Lino Quintyn started the match with the kick off. Bonifacio Fortun recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Lino Quintyn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Independiente Del Sur's zone, Siro Lore stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeremias Rosio came out of the goal and Siro Lore tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 14 minutes into the game, Hernan Sergi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independiente Del Sur's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlético Grulense the free kick. Siro Lore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeremias Rosio having to interfere. Bonifacio Fortun scored 1-0 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fulgencio Ixona, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Reynaldo Belmiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 26 minutes into the game, one of Atlético Grulense:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Bruno Shepherd shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Fulgencio Ixona showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robustiano Llorenc, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. 32 minutes into the match, Atlético Grulense's goalkeeper Fulgencio Ixona had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bonifacio Fortun. Independiente Del Sur's Bruno Shepherd shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 37th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Fulgencio Ixona but with some difficulty. Siro Lore received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Jeremias Rosio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Siro Lore sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jeremias Rosio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lino Quintyn's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bonifacio Fortun was the one to do the kick off. Independiente Del Sur's Robustiano Llorenc got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 59th minute, Lino Quintyn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Siro Lore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeremias Rosio having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Siro Lore got free with Jeremias Rosio in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 71 minutes into the match, Atlético Grulense's goal looked a bit too open when Bonifacio Fortun came free, but Fulgencio Ixona reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A throw-in in the 73rd minute of the game was made by Saverio Gorri with Lino Quintyn as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Bonifacio Fortun managed to get in a good position for a shot. Independiente Del Sur's supporters rose to their feet, but Bonifacio Fortun was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fulgencio Ixona breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Atlético Grulense's Fulgencio Ixona played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reynaldo Belmiro in the 89th minute of play. A hard shot by Paulo Ixaka from long distance, 96 minutes into the match, got Jeremias Rosio's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Independiente Del Sur's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
