Orlando Pio hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Leo Gutierrez came out of the goal and Remigio Erroman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. River Plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Baldomero Abeitia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leo Gutierrez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Remigio Erroman's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remigio Erroman in the 83rd minute of play forced BAYCORPS's goalkeeper Leo Gutierrez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, River Plate's Leo Gutierrez threw himself towards the right post 87 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Remigio Erroman, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. River Plate's Baldomero Abeitia got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
