An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicolas Mikolas in the 13th minute of play forced Somisa San Nicolás's goalkeeper Erwann Trottier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elias Federigo struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Erwann Trottier didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Alajuelence AR. Elias Federigo took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Erwann Trottier. Erwann Trottier dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rolando Oliveiro in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnulfo Donostia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With his leg Arnulfo Donostia managed to avoid a goal in the 24thth minute, when Somisa San Nicolás's Santiago-Tomas Quinito fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Somisa San Nicolás were furious when Isaac Elodio was red carded, 32 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 31st minute, one of Somisa San Nicolás:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Somisa San Nicolás. Erwann Trottier had in the 34thth minute some difficulties stopping Eulalio Lopes's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After 34 minutes of play, Alajuelence AR's Eulalio Lopes made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Erwann Trottier was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Santiago-Tomas Quinito got free with Arnulfo Donostia in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Santiago-Tomas Quinito had several of the Alajuelence AR's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 43 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 3-2 score and a disappointed Arnulfo Donostia as he didn't even see the shot coming.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Santiago-Tomas Quinito was the one to do the kick off. Nicolas Mikolas's late challenge caught a Somisa San Nicolás's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nicolas Mikolas helped the player get up and apologised. Arnulfo Donostia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santiago-Tomas Quinito in the 56th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Santiago-Tomas Quinito's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arnulfo Donostia was relentless in the 69th minute of the game.
