An unexpectedly hard shot by Javier Ayala in the 10th minute of play forced Melo's goalkeeper Paulino Rivero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 13 minutes, Nemesio Baumer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nemesio Baumer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 16th minute, Angel Demario ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paulino Rivero was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The referee gave A.R.A Gral. Belgrano a penalty, 22 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Tadeo Iago, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Melo's Paulino Rivero. 0-2. Melo's Paulino Rivero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Javier Ayala in the 25th minute of play. Paulino Rivero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Javier Ayala, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 29 played minutes Melo got a freekick which was hit by Urbano Lidon. Paulino Rivero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angel Demario, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Angel Demario fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulino Rivero having to interfere. With an all-out effort, A.R.A Gral. Belgrano's Paulino Rivero threw himself towards the right post 69 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Javier Ayala, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Paulino Rivero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Javier Ayala, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute.
