The supporters of Palermo booed when Lomas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelino Guillelmo didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Lomas FC's Amado Herena suffered a concussion after 50 minutes and had to leave the field. 50 minutes into the game, Romeo Goiz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palermo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lomas FC the free kick. Lomas FC's Alberto Rendon was substituted for Amado Herena. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edelmiro Idacio in the 86th minute of play forced Palermo's goalkeeper Conrado Gombal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Alberto Rendon came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Lomas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Rendon couldn't finish the play. Lomas FC made a substitution. Elvio Iratzeder replaced Edelmiro Pancho. Conrado Gombal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonardo Panpili, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Lomas FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
