In the 4th minute of the match, Feliberto Oriche tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Americo Lucian saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Bartolo Bernard fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mazatlán CF's protests and gave Bartolo Bernard a yellow card for diving instead. After 5 played minutes Mazatlán CF got a freekick which was hit by Bartolo Bernard. Through an outstanding action, after 7 minutes, Americo Lucian successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Cornelio Ascencio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Enrique Bilbo hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. The supporters of Mazatlán CF booed when Vecinos Unidos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cecilio Gutierrez didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 24 minutes of play, Mazatlán CF's Joaquin Etxekopar made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Prudencio Lop was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Cornelio Ascencio in the 27th minute of play forced Vecinos Unidos's goalkeeper Prudencio Lop to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Prudencio Lop made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabian Abeitia in the 28th minute of play. If Cornelio Ascencio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fabian Abeitia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Prudencio Lop tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Vecinos Unidos's Cecilio Gutierrez got a free kick in the 33rd minute. After some careless play in the Vecinos Unidos defense, Cornelio Ascencio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Prudencio Lop. The Vecinos Unidos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Prudencio Lop should have stopped the shot. Cornelio Ascencio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Prudencio Lop tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joaquin Etxekopar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 41st minute, Ivan Ignatius hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Feliberto Oriche, 42 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Cornelio Ascencio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute, Cecilio Gutierrez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cornelio Ascencio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Americo Lucian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Feliberto Oriche, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Americo Lucian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Feliberto Oriche in the 55th minute of play. Cornelio Ascencio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Prudencio Lop having to interfere. Remigio Sustrai kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. In the 60th minute, Cornelio Ascencio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mazatlán CF's Ivan Ignatius managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Joel Vimaro in the 62 minute of the game. Prudencio Lop made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cornelio Ascencio in the 64th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 65th minute of the game. One of Vecinos Unidos:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Mazatlán CF:s goal. Cecilio Gutierrez hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Cornelio Ascencio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Prudencio Lop tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Prudencio Lop made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cornelio Ascencio in the 75th minute. Cornelio Ascencio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vecinos Unidos's Prudencio Lop played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabian Abeitia in the 81st minute of play. In the 82nd minute Cornelio Ascencio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Prudencio Lop saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87th minute Feliberto Oriche shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Americo Lucian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Prudencio Lop took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cornelio Ascencio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Prudencio Lop was a little too slow when Cornelio Ascencio got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 95th minute. The score was now 0-4. Mazatlán CF played a much better game than Vecinos Unidos and deserved their victory. The Vecinos Unidos players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
