Spectators: 7157 (Terracing: 5369, Seating: 1646, VIP seats: 142) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Jacobo Piarres started the match with the kick off. The audience was convinced that Jacobo Piarres's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aldo Salvidor was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. The supporters of Deportivo FC booed when Echeverría was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacobo Marques didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jacobo Piarres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aldo Salvidor having to interfere. Aldo Salvidor stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jacobo Piarres's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jacobo Piarres in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aldo Salvidor saved Echeverría from getting behind. Albano Edorta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aldo Salvidor read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. After 20 minutes of play, Echeverría's Enrique Eyague made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lisandro George was left in no man's land by his defense there! Aldo Salvidor stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jacobo Piarres's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. After 24 minutes, Norberto Vasco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Echeverría and the Deportivo FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 30th minute, Braulio Astudillo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Generoso Rencio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacobo Piarres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44th minute, Albano Edorta left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Deportivo FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After a rather tough play, Echeverría's Rene Oriche got a free kick in the 56th minute. Herminio Baldovino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Aldo Salvidor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Herminio Baldovino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacobo Piarress short, quick shot in the 74thth minute got Aldo Salvidor to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Echeverría's Aldo Salvidor proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Echeverría from getting a goal against them. After 80th play minutes Jacobo Piarres shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Aldo Salvidor and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 85th match minute, Echeverría was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rene Oriche to maneuver through the defense. Aldo Salvidor stood somewhat misplaced when Jacobo Piarres came free in front of goal and shot 1-3 to the left of him in the 86 minute. When the match clock showed 92 minutes, the score became 1-4 when Jacobo Piarres sped through Echeverría's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Aldo Salvidor. Deportivo FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
