Abelardo Lonzo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vicente Nesto's late challenge caught a Club Atletico River Plate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vicente Nesto helped the player get up and apologised. 58 minutes into the match, Hugo Franco dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Abelardo Lonzo, 3-2. 61 minutes into the game, Lino Gentza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-3. Abelardo Lonzo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Abelardo Lonzo made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Lino Gentza sent off a good shot on target. If Lino Gentza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lino Macias in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carmelo Jayvier prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Abelardo Lonzo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lino Gentza in the 74th minute. After a rather tough play, Ambargasta's Freddy Mikolas got a free kick in the 78th minute. After having played for 84 minutes, Lino Macias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ambargasta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lino Macias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Abelardo Lonzo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hugo Franco, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
