The supporters of Liverpool FC booed when Alastuey was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angel Argenis didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Saturnino Elequemedo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lonnie Barger. Alastuey's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Saturnino Elequemedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. After a defensive mix-up in Alastuey's zone, Saturnino Elequemedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lonnie Barger came out of the goal and Saturnino Elequemedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Liverpool FC's André Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucio Weterio in the 24th minute of play. Lonnie Barger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Saturnino Elequemedo in the 25th minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 47th minute by Camilo Ricart got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Saturnino Elequemedo to strike the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Alastuey's Lonnie Barger got control of the ball when Mamon Al Nasser tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fernando Valenzuela's late challenge caught a Alastuey's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fernando Valenzuela helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Liverpool FC's Fernando Valenzuela got a free kick in the 97th minute. Liverpool FC played a much better game than Alastuey and deserved their victory. The Alastuey players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
