The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 3 minutes, Ruben Caton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. la gringoneta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ruben Caton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Fernando Varela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 6 minutes into the match, la gringoneta's Fernando Varela sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jeremias George narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Fernando Varela managed to get in a good position for a shot. la gringoneta's supporters rose to their feet, but Fernando Varela was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jeremias George breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Fernando Varela's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jeremias George was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. 13 minutes into the match, Asamblea's goalkeeper Jeremias George had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fernando Varela. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ruben Caton got free with Jeremias George in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, la gringoneta's Leo Etxeberri got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 31st minute, la gringoneta's Fernando Varela dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Asamblea's zone, Fernando Varela stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeremias George came out of the goal and Fernando Varela tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when la gringoneta's Fernando Varela in the 36th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Jeremias George was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Asamblea through an amazing save. With a little luck, Asamblea's Jeremias George got control of the ball when Fernando Varela tried to sneak it across the goal line. Leo Etxeberri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeremias George having to interfere. In the 44th minute Fernando Varela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremias George saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Asamblea getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Manuel Sayvion hit a great ball. Leo Etxeberri was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 47th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

52 minutes into the match, Asamblea's goal looked a bit too open when Máté Madarász came free, but Jeremias George reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 53 minutes, Fernando Varela made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Asamblea's Jeremias George tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Jeremias George made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernando Varela in the 56th minute of play. Jeremias George showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernando Varela, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute.
