The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Leonel Ulizes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Leonel Ulizes might have been able to make a better finish in the 6th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zeledon Xacintu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leonel Ulizes ran back to his position shaking his head. 7 minutes into the game, Club Azteca's Alfredo Videl nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Zeledon Xacintu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Atilano Naelio charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Atilano Naelio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 10th match minute, Club Azteca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Atilano Naelio to maneuver through the defense. Leonel Ulizes might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zeledon Xacintu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leonel Ulizes ran back to his position shaking his head. Alfredo Videl took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zeledon Xacintu. Zeledon Xacintu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 20 minutes into the match, Alfredo Videl notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Sportivo Quiñihual's Zeledon Xacintu. Zeledon Xacintu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Alfredo Videl received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Zeledon Xacintu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zeledon Xacintu came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Azteca's Leonel Ulizes. But to his dismay, Leonel Ulizes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Florentino Federigo charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Florentino Federigo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Sportivo Quiñihual booed when Club Azteca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Florentino Federigo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sportivo Quiñihual's Zeledon Xacintu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonel Ulizes in the 37th minute of play. If Alfredo Videl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 41 minutes into the match, Leonel Ulizes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zeledon Xacintu. Sportivo Quiñihual's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leonel Ulizes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. The Sportivo Quiñihual players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Club Azteca were winning 0-5.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leonel Ulizes to make the kick off. If Alfredo Videl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leonel Ulizes was extremely unlucky when he, in the 60th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. A collision led to Club Azteca getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Florentino Federigo hit a great ball. After 73 played minutes, Sportivo Quiñihual's Lucio Mannuel shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dave Ealham came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sportivo Quiñihual reached it. Leonel Ulizes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Zeledon Xacintu made a huge save. Leonel Ulizes received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Zeledon Xacintu came out and tried to block the shot, but Leonel Ulizes slotted it home off the left post making it 0-6 in the 74th minute. Zeledon Xacintu was out of position in the 86 minute of play, and Santos Errapel capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Santos Errapel really showed his touch with that goal: 0-7. Leonel Ulizes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zeledon Xacintu having to interfere. Atilano Naelio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Zeledon Xacintu having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Leonel Ulizes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Azteca's supporters rose to their feet, but Leonel Ulizes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zeledon Xacintu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Sportivo Quiñihual's Zeledon Xacintu got control of the ball when Leonel Ulizes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Leonel Ulizes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Zeledon Xacintu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Club Azteca left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Sportivo Quiñihual.
