In the 11th minute Angelo Ubelteso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Faustino Loramendi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. RIO NEGRO's Cipriano Benvide got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Virgílio Pombal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 19 minutes, Godofredo Aurre managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lanus FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Godofredo Aurre was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lautaro Acosta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. RIO NEGRO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Angelo Ubelteso was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 42nd minute, Angelo Ubelteso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half Lanus FC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Damaso Abeijon was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Cipriano Benvide cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Moises Astrada was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Angelo Ubelteso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damaso Abeijon in the 60th minute of play forced Lanus FC's goalkeeper Moises Astrada to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Faustino Loramendi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgílio Pombal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lautaro Acosta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faustino Loramendi having to interfere. In the 69th match minute, Lanus FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Radowit Fedosz to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Angelo Ubelteso got free with Faustino Loramendi in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the RIO NEGRO defense, Lautaro Acosta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Faustino Loramendi. The RIO NEGRO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Faustino Loramendi should have stopped the shot. Damaso Abeijon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Moises Astrada read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. Virgílio Pombal took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Faustino Loramendi. Faustino Loramendi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-6. In the 91st minute Virgílio Pombal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Faustino Loramendi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 91st minute, Nereo Jerico hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 93 minutes, Virgílio Pombal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
