If Eugenio Urtsua had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Avellaneda AFC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Simon Perpinya got free with Guaberto Vincente in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eugenio Urtsua blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Guaberto Vincente having to make a save.
