When Octavio Raitin fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Mercedes's protests and gave Octavio Raitin a yellow card for diving instead. After 15 played minutes Club Mercedes got a freekick which was hit by Octavio Raitin. After recieving a nice pass, Club Mercedes's Vidmantas Paplauskas tried to score from far away in the 18th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Banfield FC defense, Octavio Raitin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Humberto Cordareo. The Banfield FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Humberto Cordareo should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodolfo Ixaka in the 23rd minute of play forced Banfield FC's goalkeeper Humberto Cordareo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 24 minutes into the match, Club Mercedes's goalkeeper Diego Jerico had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Iwo Pierz. An unexpectedly hard shot by Octavio Raitin in the 26th minute of play forced Banfield FC's goalkeeper Humberto Cordareo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Iwo Pierz made a kick off. Diego Jerico showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iwo Pierz, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 56th minute, Rodolfo Ixaka made a precise shot to the right of Humberto Cordareo. Banfield FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. 63 minutes into the match, Club Mercedes's goal looked a bit too open when Iwo Pierz came free, but Diego Jerico reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ramon Otoniel's late challenge caught a Banfield FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ramon Otoniel helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Club Mercedes's Ramon Otoniel got a free kick in the 65th minute. In the 67th minute Octavio Raitin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Humberto Cordareo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Banfield FC's Humberto Cordareo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Banfield FC from getting a goal against them. Humberto Cordareo was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Juan Naelio. Diego Jerico made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iwo Pierz in the 75th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Casimiro Estavan in the 76th minute of play forced Banfield FC's goalkeeper Humberto Cordareo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A hard shot 80 in the game by Octavio Raitin from a close distance when the talented Humberto Cordareo managed to make a qualified save. Banfield FC's players were relieved. After a rather tough play, Banfield FC's Silvio Orain got a free kick in the 81st minute. The supporters of Banfield FC booed when Club Mercedes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodolfo Ixaka didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 84 minutes, Nicanor Mikelar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Mercedes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicanor Mikelar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ramon Otoniel kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. The throw-in from Casimiro Estavan in the 91st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Banfield FC's Bernardino Liher. Silvio Orain was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 92 minutes into the match. A collision led to Banfield FC getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Silvio Orain hit a great ball. Bernardino Liher kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Octavio Raitin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Humberto Cordareo was relentless in the 96th minute of the game.
