The audience was convinced that Rosendo Fonda's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Anastasio Oinatz was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rosendo Fonda to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Honorato Vargas reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Anastasio Oinatz. The goal made the score 1-1. Jesus Rudolfo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Anastasio Oinatz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rosendo Fonda in the 63rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Anastasio Oinatz, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When Andres Oinaz came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Rivera Platense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andres Oinaz couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Rivera Platense's Anastasio Oinatz got control of the ball when Jesus Rudolfo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 73rd minute, Rosendo Fonda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gimnasia y Esgrima LP were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Rivera Platense to leave the ground with a draw.
