The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 2 minutes into the match, Andres Oinaz notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Catúa's Ariel Pereyra. Ariel Pereyra was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Luisito Cordearo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Catúa's supporters rose to their feet, but Luisito Cordearo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anastasio Oinatz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 8 minutes into the match, Rivera Platense's goal looked a bit too open when Aurelio Ur came free, but Anastasio Oinatz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luisito Formerio hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Anastasio Oinatz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luisito Cordearo went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Catúa's goalkeeper Ariel Pereyra, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anacleto Savier in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ariel Pereyra saved Catúa from getting behind. After having played for 34 minutes, Gogo Ado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Catúa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gogo Ado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Rivera Platense's Luisito Formerio got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 37th minute of the match Leo Oihenarte sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Anastasio Oinatz skillfully saved the ball. Ariel Pereyra stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Anacleto Savier's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. After a rather tough play, Rivera Platense's Luisito Formerio got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 46th minute Aurelio Ur shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anastasio Oinatz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luisito Cordearo to make the kick off. A collision led to Catúa getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Abelardo Barto hit a great ball. When Luisito Formerio fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rivera Platense's protests and gave Luisito Formerio a yellow card for diving instead. In the 56th minute, Luisito Formerio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 59th minute Luisito Cordearo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anastasio Oinatz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 68th minute, one of Catúa:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Catúa. In the 72nd match minute, Rivera Platense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernan Mendez to maneuver through the defense. 76 minutes into the match, Rivera Platense's goal looked a bit too open when Luisito Cordearo came free, but Anastasio Oinatz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ariel Pereyra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andres Oinaz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Anacleto Savier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 81 minutes into the match, Rivera Platense's goal looked a bit too open when Luisito Cordearo came free, but Anastasio Oinatz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ariel Pereyra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anacleto Savier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute, Anacleto Savier left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Rivera Platense fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
