The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The penalty shot was made by Santiago Sugar, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Recoleta's Ceferino Jerold. 0-1. Recoleta's Ceferino Jerold played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Natalio Innocenzio in the 14th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Recoleta's Carlos Aragones got a free kick in the 28th minute. Payogastilla 's Santiago Sugar got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Alejandro Henrico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Miguel Natanael received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Ceferino Jerold tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ceferino Jerold stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Miguel Natanael's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. After having played for 43 minutes, Miguel Natanael managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Payogastilla 's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Natanael was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alejandro Henrico received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Ceferino Jerold tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Alejandro Henrico got free with Ceferino Jerold in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 71 minutes into the match, Recoleta's goalkeeper Ceferino Jerold had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alejandro Henrico. Natalio Innocenzio's late challenge caught a Recoleta's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
