The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rodolfo Ladio struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Faustino Rivero didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pagancillo. Nunez Lesardo kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. If Roman Ascencio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 13th minute by Roman Ascencio got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Rodolfo Ladio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pagancillo's supporters rose to their feet, but Rodolfo Ladio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Faustino Rivero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mario Montes's late challenge caught a Pagancillo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mario Montes helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Mario Montes got a free kick in the 18th minute. Faustino Rivero came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Pagancillo's Rodolfo Ladio. But to his dismay, Rodolfo Ladio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Roman Ascencio's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Faustino Rivero firmly grabbed it by the left post. Faustino Rivero was out of position in the 23 minute of play, and Rodolfo Ladio capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Rodolfo Ladio really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Rodolfo Ladio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faustino Rivero having to interfere. Roman Ascencios short, quick shot in the 29thth minute got Faustino Rivero to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Rodolfo Ladio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 32nd minute of the game. One of Independiente:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Pagancillo:s goal. The score was 3-0 after a penalty in the 34th minute, where Pagancillo:s Rodolfo Ladio tricked Independiente:s Faustino Rivero with a difficult ball by the left post. Faustino Rivero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodolfo Ladio, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Rodolfo Ladio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Faustino Rivero having to make a save. Independiente's Faustino Rivero proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Independiente from getting a goal against them. Rodolfo Ladio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faustino Rivero having to interfere. 45 minutes into the match, Pagancillo's Roman Ascencio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Faustino Rivero narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The wind increased when Roman Ascencio made the kick off in the second half. Faustino Rivero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roman Ascencio, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Rodolfo Ladio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Faustino Rivero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Faustino Rivero stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rodolfo Ladio's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. Rodolfo Ladio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Faustino Rivero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pagancillo's Osvaldo Orlan got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Independiente's Faustino Rivero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodolfo Ladio in the 73rd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Teo Efren during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Pagancillo booed when Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teo Efren didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was beautiful to see Pagancillo's Leonel Tello in action when he in the 78th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Pagancillo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Aristides Gergori in the 81st minute. 82 minutes into the match, Roman Ascencio notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Independiente's Faustino Rivero. Faustino Rivero was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Faustino Rivero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodolfo Ladio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Independiente defense, Roman Ascencio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Faustino Rivero. The Independiente fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Faustino Rivero should have stopped the shot. If Rodolfo Ladio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Pagancillo fully deserved thier win.
