Spectators: 7026 (Terracing: 5426, Seating: 1500, VIP seats: 100) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Domingos Dalmai started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the game, Pablo Eron was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ateneo de la juventud FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave River Plate the free kick. Pablo Eron hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Ateneo de la juventud FC's Cristo Urtats got control of the ball when Domingos Dalmai tried to sneak it across the goal line. Salvador Acevedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelo Donio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristo Urtats came out of the goal in the 8th minute to try and stop a shot by River Plate's Cayetano Txomin. But to his dismay, Cayetano Txomin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Domingos Dalmai kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Salvador Acevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Froilan Valiente, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. In the 18th minute, Marcelo Donio made a precise shot to the right of Salvador Acevedo. River Plate's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcelo Donio in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Salvador Acevedo saved River Plate from getting behind. Marcelo Donio scored 1-2 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Salvador Acevedo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Salvador Acevedo came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Ateneo de la juventud FC's Froilan Valiente. But to his dismay, Froilan Valiente quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Froilan Valiente received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Salvador Acevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rene Gumaro's late challenge caught a Ateneo de la juventud FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rene Gumaro helped the player get up and apologised. Marcelo Donio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Salvador Acevedo having to make a save. In the 39th minute, Domingos Dalmai hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcelo Donio in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Salvador Acevedo saved River Plate from getting behind. Domingos Dalmai sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Jaime Corderall fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ateneo de la juventud FC's protests and gave Jaime Corderall a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of River Plate booed when Ateneo de la juventud FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaime Corderall didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marcelo Donio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Marcelo Donio who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 54thth minute tested the skills of Salvador Acevedo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Marcelo Donio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Salvador Acevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 59th minute, River Plate's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Marcelo Donio fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Salvador Acevedo made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Froilan Valiente sent off a good shot on target. In the 61st minute, Marcelo Donio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Salvador Acevedo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. In the 66th minute, Froilan Valiente reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Salvador Acevedo. The goal made the score 1-5. In the last second Salvador Acevedo throw himself and got hold of the ball when Froilan Valiente in the 70thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. In the 71stth minute of the game Froilan Valiente who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but River Plate's Salvador Acevedo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Marcelo Donio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Froilan Valiente kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Salvador Acevedo. That made the score 1-6 in the 74 minute of play. Cristo Urtats showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Domingos Dalmai in the 77th minute of the match. Froilan Valiente sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ateneo de la juventud FC's Marcelo Donio got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Froilan Valiente kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Salvador Acevedo. That made the score 1-7 in the 91 minute of play.
