Cultura Argentina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guillermo Pinto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Guillermo Pinto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Guillermo Pinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. Cultura Argentina's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hipolito Madeo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Guillermo Pinto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cultura Argentina's Guillermo Pinto got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sportivo Spezia's Alvaro Iaki played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Esteve Lauro in the 67th minute of play. Guillermo Pinto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 74 minutes into the match, Cultura Argentina's Esteve Lauro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alvaro Iaki narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Guillermo Pinto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Alvaro Iaki tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
