Through an outstanding action, after 12 minutes, Grady Byrne successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After a rather tough play, SUR's Aquilino Rioja got a free kick in the 13th minute. Grady Byrne made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Honorato Chan sent off a good shot on target. In the 19th minute Honorato Chan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Grady Byrne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Honorato Chan kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Grady Byrne. That made the score 3-1 in the 28 minute of play. Marcial Eguen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeremias Ayala having to interfere. Jeremias Ayala showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arturo Ishmael, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Domingos Chuse struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Jeremias Ayala didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SUR. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emiliano Ekhi was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, SUR's goal looked a bit too open when Emiliano Ekhi came free, but Grady Byrne reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcial Eguen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jeremias Ayala read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play.
