Deportivo Merlino's Teo Mede played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduardo Natanael in the 16th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Godfredo Emenon got free with Rene Buinton in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rogelio Herena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Rene Buinton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 24 minutes, Rogelio Herena mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Deportivo Merlino and the La Racing Stone players grew even worse after the yellow card. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rogelio Herena to strike the kick off in the second half. Deportivo Merlino's Godfredo Emenon got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
