The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 4 minutes, Dirk Jan Pluijm managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sonata FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dirk Jan Pluijm was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 9 minutes of play, Sonata FC's Arnaldo Christobal made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hilario Cristofor was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dirk Jan Pluijm fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hilario Cristofor having to interfere. 23 minutes into the match, Dirk Jan Pluijm had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hilario Cristofor. Río Cuarto FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dirk Jan Pluijm was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 26th minute, Aurelius Bear hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sebastian Hotz was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 27th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Aurelius Bear hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 31st minute, Arnaldo Christobal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 41 minutes of play, Sonata FC's Daniel Abaurre made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hilario Cristofor was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sonata FC's Arnaldo Christobal got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Río Cuarto FC's Hilario Cristofor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnaldo Christobal in the 48th minute of play. After the first half Sonata FC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Dirk Jan Pluijm made the kick off in the second half. Daniel Abaurre sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sonata FC's Arnaldo Christobal got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cristo Hats took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ariel Bernard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arnaldo Christobal blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hilario Cristofor having to make a save. Ariel Bernard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Cristo Hats tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dirk Jan Pluijm in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hilario Cristofor saved Río Cuarto FC from getting behind. If Justo Xabier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 81st minute Angelo Padro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristo Hats saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sonata FC's Dirk Jan Pluijm got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Río Cuarto FC's Hilario Cristofor got control of the ball when Arnaldo Christobal tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Río Cuarto FC's Baldomiro Abeita got a free kick in the 92nd minute. After a rather tough play, Sonata FC's Daniel Abaurre got a free kick in the 95th minute. The Sonata FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sonata FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
