In the 5th minute, Club.Atlético Reggina's Ruperto Montez ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nereo Lucado. Nereo Lucado yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. 10 minutes into the game, Monteros's Leonel Rameriz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Oscar Iraitz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Ruperto Montez struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Nereo Lucado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club.Atlético Reggina. Ruperto Montez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Nereo Lucado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Ruperto Montez came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Club.Atlético Reggina fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ruperto Montez couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Leonel Rameriz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Monteros's supporters rose to their feet, but Leonel Rameriz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oscar Iraitz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nereo Lucado made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Ruperto Montez sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Monteros getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Mauricio Illan hit a great ball. Ruperto Montez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Nereo Lucado made a huge save. In the 42nd minute, Zenon Waldoch got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 46th minute, Ruperto Montez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club.Atlético Reggina fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The wind increased when Leonel Rameriz made the kick off in the second half. If Ruperto Montez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Guillermo Barrio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club.Atlético Reggina's supporters rose to their feet, but Guillermo Barrio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruperto Montez in the 70th minute of play forced Monteros's goalkeeper Nereo Lucado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Club.Atlético Reggina were awarded a corner in the 71th minute after Monteros's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nicolas Fortun took the corner. Orlando Pitin was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Ruperto Montez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Monteros's Nereo Lucado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zenon Waldoch in the 91st minute of play. Mauricio Illan hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Monteros's zone, Ruperto Montez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nereo Lucado came out of the goal and Ruperto Montez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 97 minutes into the match, Club.Atlético Reggina's goalkeeper Oscar Iraitz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Costante. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Club.Atlético Reggina had played much better football throughout.
