Gogo Mitxel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 11 minutes into the game, Evelio Ricart cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Astor Gaur was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Newells Old Boys's Dalmacio Domingues got a free kick in the 17th minute. A collision led to Vespucio getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Epifanio Baumar hit a great ball. If Evelio Ricart had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 25 played minutes Vespucio got a freekick which was hit by Epifanio Baumar. 31 minutes into the match, Vespucio's goal looked a bit too open when Danilo Bento came free, but Astor Gaur reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gogo Mitxel hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Simon Tximitx managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newells Old Boys's supporters rose to their feet, but Simon Tximitx was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Astor Gaur breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Omar Romero blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Astor Gaur having to make a save. If Danilo Bento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Evelio Ricart's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Astor Gaur read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Astor Gaur showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danilo Bento, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. 67 minutes into the match, Omar Romero notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Vespucio's Astor Gaur. Astor Gaur was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Astor Gaur came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Newells Old Boys's Danilo Bento. But to his dismay, Danilo Bento quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. When Omar Romero came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Newells Old Boys fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Omar Romero couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Danilo Bento in the 83rd minute of play forced Vespucio's goalkeeper Astor Gaur to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Omar Romero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 88 played minutes Vespucio got a freekick which was hit by Epifanio Baumar. Evelio Ricart received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Astor Gaur tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Vespucio defense, Danilo Bento kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Astor Gaur. The Vespucio fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Astor Gaur should have stopped the shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Newells Old Boys fully deserved thier win.
