In the 17th minute, Santo Shantala got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Sevigné's zone, Marcelo Tajo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carmelo Patrido came out of the goal and Marcelo Tajo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ricardo Koldo to make the kick off. After some careless play in the COLON FC defense, Reynaldo Procopio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Caradaro. The COLON FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Caradaro should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Modesto Ler during the 54th minute.
