Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jose Balasi in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Silvio Aznaro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Rolando Chorache had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luciano Leocadio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aureliano Rainerio in the 13th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Aureliano Rainerio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luciano Leocadio was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. 17 minutes into the match, New P's goal looked a bit too open when Aureliano Rainerio came free, but Luciano Leocadio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luciano Leocadio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgard Sugar in the 20th minute of play. When Jose Balasi fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored New P's protests and gave Jose Balasi a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Sugar in the 28th minute of play forced New P's goalkeeper Luciano Leocadio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of New P booed when Olympique de Marseille was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aureliano Rainerio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jose Balasi made a kick off. Aureliano Rainerio might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luciano Leocadio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aureliano Rainerio ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 54th minute, Edgard Sugar reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Luciano Leocadio. The goal made the score 1-2. After a rather tough play, New P's Horacio Favila got a free kick in the 57th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Jose Balasi managed to get in a good position for a shot. New P's supporters rose to their feet, but Jose Balasi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silvio Aznaro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Clodoveo Eliazar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aureliano Rainerio hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. After having played for 71 minutes, Jose Balasi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. New P's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jose Balasi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match clock showed 89 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Jose Balasi sped through Olympique de Marseille's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Silvio Aznaro.
