Jaqüé's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave c.a.independiente the free kick. 28 minutes into the match, Jaqüé's goal looked a bit too open when Nicasio Dorio came free, but Benito Jesco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, c.a.independiente's Humberto Gaspard got control of the ball when Godofredo Sadurni tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jaqüé's Benito Jesco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lisandro Ranolfo in the 35th minute of play. Benigno Sidoro's late challenge caught a Jaqüé's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Arnaldo Macario made the kick off in the second half. Jaqüé's Arnaldo Macario got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arnaldo Macario fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Gaspard having to interfere. If Godofredo Sadurni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. Arnaldo Macario's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Humberto Gaspard read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. Benito Jesco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for c.a.independiente. After 91 minutes, Arnoldo Quinito mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jaqüé and the c.a.independiente players grew even worse after the yellow card.
