Elias James breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Sport Bahrein booed when millenium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vicente Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd match minute, Sport Bahrein was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeremias Abecia to maneuver through the defense. After 25 played minutes, millenium's Horacio Lapurdi shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Apolo Santo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in millenium reached it. After a rather tough play, Sport Bahrein's Segundo Elixio got a free kick in the 25th minute. After 29 minutes of play, millenium's Silvestre Demesio made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Apolo Santo was left in no man's land by his defense there! 34 minutes into the match, Sport Bahrein's goal looked a bit too open when Alejandro Menendo came free, but Apolo Santo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alejandro Menendo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 39thth minute of the game Silvestre Demesio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sport Bahrein's Apolo Santo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 41st minute Aristides Oinatz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Apolo Santo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alejandro Menendo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Sport Bahrein's Apolo Santo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Sport Bahrein from getting a goal against them. In the 74th minute, Roni de Pelsmaecker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
