Gustavo Garikoitz was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Banfield's zone, Damaso Gau stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Casimiro Ur came out of the goal and Damaso Gau tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Delmiro Guillerme in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Casimiro Ur prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Felix Ovando was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 34 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Banfield fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 34th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 37 minutes, Santos FC's Serafin Amor got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Casimiro Ur. In the 41st minute, Damaso Gau made a precise shot to the right of Casimiro Ur. Banfield's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Vicente Polo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Gustavo Garikoitz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vicente Polo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Delmiro Guillerme stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Guaberto Hibai's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Gustavo Garikoitz firmly grabbed it by the left post. Damian Veremundo kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. After 60 played minutes Santos FC got a freekick which was hit by Benedykt Sowa. After a defensive mix-up in Santos FC's zone, Horacio Mannie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gustavo Garikoitz came out of the goal and Horacio Mannie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Samuel Fidele received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gustavo Garikoitz came out and tried to block the shot, but Samuel Fidele slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 64th minute. Serafin Amor struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Casimiro Ur didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santos FC. Santos FC's Gustavo Garikoitz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Santos FC from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Banfield booed when Santos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benedykt Sowa didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Delmiro Guillerme in the 86th minute of play forced Banfield's goalkeeper Casimiro Ur to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Casimiro Ur stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Delmiro Guillerme's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. Gregorio Criston charged in rather forcefully in the 93rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gregorio Criston the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 93rd minute, Gregorio Criston hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Banfield walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
