Spectators: 7220 (Terracing: 5416, Seating: 1661, VIP seats: 143) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Maximino Ospetsu started the match with the kick off. river plate's Cosme Domeka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximino Ospetsu in the 5th minute of play. Leontin Troncotă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Gartxot in the 6th minute of play. Maximino Ospetsu did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Cosme Domeka 8 minutes into the match. Leontin Troncotă showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugo Gartxot in the 12th minute of the match. Cosme Domeka was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Maximino Ospetsu showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 13 minute of play. Marcial Mannie kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Newell´s Old Boys's goalkeeper Leontin Troncotă, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 27 minutes into the match, river plate's goal looked a bit too open when Marcial Mannie came free, but Cosme Domeka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Newell´s Old Boys's zone, Jaime Jerano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leontin Troncotă came out of the goal and Jaime Jerano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Newell´s Old Boys's Jairo Gomez slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cosme Domeka. That made the score 3-0 after 33 minutes of play. When Hugo Gartxot came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the river plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hugo Gartxot couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, river plate's Cosme Domeka got control of the ball when Jairo Gomez tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cosme Domeka showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jairo Gomez, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Cosme Domeka made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edgard Jakes in the 44th minute. Romeo Cordareo charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Romeo Cordareo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Romeo Cordareo hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Cosme Domeka came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Newell´s Old Boys's Edgard Jakes. But to his dismay, Edgard Jakes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hugo Gartxot to make the kick off. Cosme Domeka made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jairo Gomez in the 54th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximino Ospetsu in the 55th minute of play forced river plate's goalkeeper Cosme Domeka to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jairo Gomez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Cosme Domeka tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cosme Domeka made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcial Mannie in the 63rd minute of play. Cosme Domeka showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximino Ospetsu, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. In the 66th minute, Damaso Cordaryal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cosme Domeka showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maximino Ospetsu in the 71st minute of the match. Cosme Domeka made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgard Jakes in the 72nd minute of play. In the 74th match minute, Newell´s Old Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicolas Servando to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Jakes in the 89th minute of play forced river plate's goalkeeper Cosme Domeka to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 90 minutes into the game, Newell´s Old Boys's Eulalio Machado nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cosme Domeka made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-1. In the 94th match minute, Newell´s Old Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jairo Gomez to maneuver through the defense. 96 minutes into the game, Jairo Gomez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-1.
