Ignacio Hotz charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ignacio Hotz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 19th minute of the game. One of El Independiente:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Los Picapiedras FC:s goal. After a rather tough play, Los Picapiedras FC's Rogelio Beremundo got a free kick in the 22nd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edgardo Rainerio got free with Severo Suarez in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Evaristo Rey kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Melquiades Crescencio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Marcelino Gabirel hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. In the 44th minute Anier Oskitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruperto Lastur saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Severo Suarez came out of the goal and Raimundo Lain tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edgardo Rainerio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severo Suarez having to interfere. Severo Suarez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Melquiades Crescencio in the 82nd minute of the match. Rogelio Beremundo charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
