With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cipriano Pio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 9 played minutes Russell FC got a freekick which was hit by Roman Frechoso. Russell FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jairo Rito was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cipriano Pio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Godfredo Medero to make the kick off. Cipriano Pio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Godfredo Medero in the 54th minute of the match. Pastor Oliverio struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Cipriano Pio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Russell FC. After a defensive mix-up in San Martin's zone, Godfredo Medero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cipriano Pio came out of the goal and Godfredo Medero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rigoberto Emenon hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. After having played for 79 minutes, Godfredo Medero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Russell FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Godfredo Medero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
