Haroldo Minjaraz scored 0-1 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Placido Vistruario, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 16 played minutes chacayes got a freekick which was hit by Ernesto Lauaxeta. After a defensive mix-up in chacayes's zone, Gilberto Maxin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Placido Vistruario came out of the goal and Gilberto Maxin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Virgilio Haitz might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Placido Vistruario. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Virgilio Haitz ran back to his position shaking his head. Humberto Arnas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pascual Bihar went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 34th minute, Haroldo Minjaraz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 38th minute, Ernesto Lauaxeta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Virgilio Haitz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Placido Vistruario tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Deportivo San Vicente's Haroldo Minjaraz got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Virgilio Haitz to make the kick off. The supporters of Deportivo San Vicente booed when chacayes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adolfo Rosalio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Haroldo Minjaraz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Placido Vistruario made a huge save. Humberto Arnas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aldo Lucero in the 64th minute of the match. Pascual Bihar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Arnas having to interfere. 81 minutes in the game, Virgilio Haitz fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Placido Vistruario having to interfere. 82 minutes into the game, Ernesto Lauaxeta was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. chacayes's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Deportivo San Vicente the free kick.
