Virgilio Guerrero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Fortun having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 52nd minute of the game. One of Defensores de Belgrano:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of LOS CARLITOS:s goal. When Abel Astudillo fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored LOS CARLITOS's protests and gave Abel Astudillo a yellow card for diving instead. After 80 played minutes LOS CARLITOS got a freekick which was hit by Abel Astudillo. When Virgilio Guerrero came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Defensores de Belgrano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Virgilio Guerrero couldn't finish the play. After having played for 86 minutes, Gustavo Tello managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Defensores de Belgrano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gustavo Tello was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 91st minute of the match, Virgilio Guerrero got a very nice opportunity to score, but Alfredo Fortun was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 94 minutes into the game, Virgilio Guerrero was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Defensores de Belgrano's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave LOS CARLITOS the free kick. For all the effort they put into the match, the Defensores de Belgrano players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense.
