But to his dismay, Epifanio Gonzalez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Diadema AFC's Ciro Eztebe got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Buchanan's Costică Blajovici played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Melquiades Eleder in the 18th minute of play. Cristobal Blasi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Costică Blajovici tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Miguel Dodorol took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Epifanio Gonzalez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 25 minutes into the match, Buchanan's goal looked a bit too open when Ciro Eztebe came free, but Costică Blajovici reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Costică Blajovici showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristobal Blasi, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Jesus Omero's late challenge caught a Diadema AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jesus Omero helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Diadema AFC booed when Buchanan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. In the 88th minute Epifanio Gonzalez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Dodorol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Diadema AFC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
