After a defensive mix-up in GIMNASIA Y ESGRIMA L.P.'s zone, Carlos Alberto Teves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Osvaldo Remicio came out of the goal and Carlos Alberto Teves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 9 played minutes GIMNASIA Y ESGRIMA L.P. got a freekick which was hit by Damaso Tabor. Evert Verheecke took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 9th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Osvaldo Remicio. GIMNASIA Y ESGRIMA L.P.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Julio Emesto charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Julio Emesto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 12 minutes, Modesto Petri mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the GIMNASIA Y ESGRIMA L.P. and the Club Atlético Lagartos players grew even worse after the yellow card. Modesto Petri hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Evert Verheecke got free with Osvaldo Remicio in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Americo Nikola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Osvaldo Remicio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. GIMNASIA Y ESGRIMA L.P.'s Osvaldo Remicio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save GIMNASIA Y ESGRIMA L.P. from getting a goal against them. In the 36th minute, Americo Nikola fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Osvaldo Remicio, passed just outside the right post. If Evert Verheecke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 40 minutes into the match, Evert Verheecke notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of GIMNASIA Y ESGRIMA L.P.'s Osvaldo Remicio. Osvaldo Remicio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Evert Verheecke to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Club Atlético Lagartos's Americo Nikola got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Osvaldo Remicio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evert Verheecke, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. GIMNASIA Y ESGRIMA L.P.'s Osvaldo Remicio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evert Verheecke in the 57th minute of play. A collision led to GIMNASIA Y ESGRIMA L.P. getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Enzo Urtsua hit a great ball. Club Atlético Lagartos's Evert Verheecke got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carlos Alberto Teves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Osvaldo Remicio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. If Evert Verheecke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Osvaldo Remicio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vinicio Rivas in the 68th minute of play. 68 minutes into the match, Vinicio Rivas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Osvaldo Remicio. GIMNASIA Y ESGRIMA L.P.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vinicio Rivas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. In the 74th minute, Vinicio Rivas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Osvaldo Remicio was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Osvaldo Remicio came out of the goal in the 79th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atlético Lagartos's Fabricio Gartzen. But to his dismay, Fabricio Gartzen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. If Modesto Petri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evert Verheecke in the 85th minute of play forced GIMNASIA Y ESGRIMA L.P.'s goalkeeper Osvaldo Remicio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Vinicio Rivas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 88 minutes into the game, Club Atlético Lagartos's Fabricio Gartzen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Osvaldo Remicio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-0. Osvaldo Remicio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fabricio Gartzen's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. Club Atlético Lagartos's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
