After a defensive mix-up in Club Atlético River Plate's zone, Godfredo Iratxo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David Peruxu came out of the goal and Godfredo Iratxo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Naranja's Carmelo Pitin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucio Quico in the 15th minute of play. Club Atlético River Plate's Fermin Louis got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A hard shot 23 in the game by Fermin Louis from a close distance when the talented Carmelo Pitin managed to make a qualified save. Naranja's players were relieved. Fermin Louis let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 25th minute shot 1-0 at rihgt post. Fermin Louis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Carmelo Pitin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carmelo Pitin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucio Quico in the 33rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Anibal Guipuzkoa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Naranja's supporters rose to their feet, but Anibal Guipuzkoa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Peruxu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Godfredo Iratxo in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg David Peruxu saved Club Atlético River Plate from getting behind. David Peruxu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Godfredo Iratxo, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Godfredo Iratxo struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. David Peruxu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Naranja. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Godfredo Iratxo made a kick off. After some careless play in the Naranja defense, Fermin Louis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carmelo Pitin. The Naranja fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carmelo Pitin should have stopped the shot. Vinicio Cedro hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. David Peruxu made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Anibal Guipuzkoa sent off a good shot on target. David Peruxu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Godfredo Iratxo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fidel Mogel hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. In the 69th match minute, Naranja was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnulfo Piorno to maneuver through the defense. In the 74th play minute Anibal Guipuzkoa came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised David Peruxu. 2-1. Igor Tiniebra made in the 78th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Club Atlético River Plate's Gaston Fresco. In the 79th match minute, Naranja was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vinicio Cedro to maneuver through the defense. Anibal Guipuzkoa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but David Peruxu made a huge save. In the 90th minute, Fermin Louis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 91 played minutes Naranja got a freekick which was hit by Fidel Mogel. 93 minutes into the match, Fermin Louis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carmelo Pitin. Naranja's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fermin Louis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Naranja's Carmelo Pitin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaston Fresco in the 96th minute of play. Naranja's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
