Rigoberto Abella stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paulo Lizardi's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jonas Ted to make the kick off. Leopoldo Bide's late challenge caught a riverplate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leopoldo Bide helped the player get up and apologised. In the 71st minute, Leopoldo Bide hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 72nd minute, Paulo Lizardi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 74 minutes into the game, Paulo Lizardi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Rigoberto Abella was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Paulo Lizardis short, quick shot in the 77thth minute got Rigoberto Abella to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Heitor Cunha in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rigoberto Abella prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd rose to their feet as Paulo Lizardi kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rigoberto Abella. That made the score 0-7 in the 81 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Lizardi in the 85th minute of play forced ZÁRATE FC's goalkeeper Rigoberto Abella to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paulo Lizardi who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 88thth minute tested the skills of Rigoberto Abella when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Rigoberto Abella was out of position in the 95 minute of play, and Paulo Lizardi capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Paulo Lizardi really showed his touch with that goal: 0-8. The ZÁRATE FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. riverplate were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
