In the 26th minute Fidel Chorche shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but German Presebal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sebastian Michael succeeded in the game's 27th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. Benigno Olivar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but German Presebal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. A collision led to Pinto getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Benigno Basualdo hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Pinto's zone, Fidel Chorche stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. German Presebal came out of the goal and Fidel Chorche tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Fidel Chorche had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fidel Chorche was the one to do the kick off. Benigno Olivar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without German Presebal having to interfere. Victor Gabino hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. 70 minutes into the match, Pinto's goal looked a bit too open when Fidel Chorche came free, but German Presebal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 72nd minute by Benigno Olivar got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Benigno Basualdo's late challenge caught a Newcastle United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benigno Basualdo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 73rd minute, Benigno Basualdo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pinto's goalkeeper German Presebal, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. German Presebal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fidel Chorche in the 91st minute of play. If Benigno Olivar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benigno Olivar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but German Presebal made a huge save. The Pinto fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Newcastle United were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
