After 4 minutes, Omar Maria mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cienaguita and the Resistencia FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Cienaguita's Omar Maria got a free kick in the 4th minute. Mauricio Anaya showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teodoro Estefan, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Mauricio Anaya took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teodoro Estefan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 22 minutes into the match, Resistencia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marciano Rumaldo came free, but Braulio Calvet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 24 minutes of play, Resistencia FC's Teodoro Estefan made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mauricio Anaya was left in no man's land by his defense there! Teofilo Steven hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 31stth minute of the game Teodoro Estefan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cienaguita's Mauricio Anaya was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With an all-out effort, Cienaguita's Braulio Calvet threw himself towards the right post 33 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Marciano Rumaldo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Omar Maria hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Braulio Calvet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teofilo Steven in the 42nd minute of the match. In the 44th minute Everardo Salomon suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the field. Adolfo Madaleno's late challenge caught a Cienaguita's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adolfo Madaleno helped the player get up and apologised. Adolfo Madaleno kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. In the 46th minute, David Aurken sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Resistencia FC's Braulio Calvet didn't even have to move. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomás Roland was the one to do the kick off. 57 minutes into the game, Teodoro Estefan cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Mauricio Anaya was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Braulio Calvet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Omar Maria in the 73rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Resistencia FC's zone, Omar Maria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Braulio Calvet came out of the goal and Omar Maria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 83 minutes, Marciano Rumaldo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cienaguita's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marciano Rumaldo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Marciano Rumaldo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Although Cienaguita had been in control for most of the match, Resistencia FC still came away with the win.
