If Silvio Honesto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Higinio Shepherd's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Moises Unax read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. In the 26th minute Higinio Shepherd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Moises Unax saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Higinio Shepherd came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the INDEPENDIENTE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Higinio Shepherd couldn't finish the play. Conrado Kepa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvio Honesto, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. A collision led to INDEPENDIENTE getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Gonzalo Senon hit a great ball. 37 minutes into the match, Faustino's goal looked a bit too open when Higinio Shepherd came free, but Moises Unax reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Higinio Shepherd came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the INDEPENDIENTE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Higinio Shepherd couldn't finish the play. In the 47th minute, Osvaldo Belmiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Conrado Kepa was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ladislao Fresco to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience held their breath when Higinio Shepherd in the 56th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Moises Unax's left hand side. If Ladislao Fresco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Higinio Shepherd recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Osvaldo Belmiro came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Faustino fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Osvaldo Belmiro couldn't finish the play. Osvaldo Belmiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Conrado Kepa having to interfere. Higinio Shepherd fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 72nd minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. In the 77th minute Higinio Shepherd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Moises Unax saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Conrado Kepa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvio Honesto in the 81st minute of play. If Silvio Honesto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Faustino's Moises Unax played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Higinio Shepherd in the 95th minute of play. The Faustino supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Faustino would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
