An unexpectedly hard shot by Saverio Jakue in the 31st minute of play forced Merced FC's goalkeeper Anibal Kaxen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gualterio Artal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zeledon Canor read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. Santo Indartsu might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zeledon Canor. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Santo Indartsu ran back to his position shaking his head. Zeledon Canor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gualterio Artal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Timoteo Bastia hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. After 46 played minutes, Merced FC's Vicente Jenaro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Zeledon Canor came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Merced FC reached it. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Saverio Jakue was the one to do the kick off.
