Gardey's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnulfo Fortun was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 12th match minute, Gardey was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Inocencio Cordera to maneuver through the defense. Ezequiel Peter struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Narciso Berdoi made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Club Regatas San Nicolas's goal looked a bit too open when Narciso Berdoi came free, but Rigoberto Checa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 54th minute, Delmar Ledesma hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rigoberto Checa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Narciso Berdoi, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. 85 minutes into the match, Gardey's Arnulfo Fortun sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rigoberto Checa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Narciso Berdoi received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rigoberto Checa came out and tried to block the shot, but Narciso Berdoi slotted it home off the left post making it 3-4 in the 86th minute. Club Regatas San Nicolas's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Narciso Berdoi 92 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 3-5. If Narciso Berdoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Gardey had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
