The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cristo Aresti hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. 10 minutes into the match, Rigoberto Piorno had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacinto Berasko. Union de Sta Fe's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rigoberto Piorno was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Ranelagh FC's Baldomiro Burutzagi got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Blas Dalmu hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Baldomiro Burutzagi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Baldomiro Burutzagi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th minute of the match, Rigoberto Piorno got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jacinto Berasko was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Rigoberto Piorno's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jacinto Berasko read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. The supporters of Ranelagh FC booed when Union de Sta Fe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Epifanio Mederi didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Igor Baraquiel in the 30th minute of play forced Ranelagh FC's goalkeeper Ambrosio Urdaspal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jacinto Berasko made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rigoberto Piorno in the 38th minute. If Baldomiro Burutzagi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd minute Baldomiro Burutzagi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto Berasko saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 49th minute of the game. One of Ranelagh FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Union de Sta Fe:s goal. In the 51st minute there was a penalty for Union de Sta Fe. Angel Edwardo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ambrosio Urdaspal. 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Baldomiro Burutzagi made a kick off. 57 minutes into the match, Union de Sta Fe's goal looked a bit too open when Rigoberto Piorno came free, but Jacinto Berasko reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 63 minutes into the match, Ranelagh FC's goalkeeper Ambrosio Urdaspal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcos Maore. Jacinto Berasko came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Ranelagh FC's Baldomiro Burutzagi. But to his dismay, Baldomiro Burutzagi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcos Maore got free with Ambrosio Urdaspal in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jacinto Berasko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rigoberto Piorno in the 71st minute of play. With a little luck, Ranelagh FC's Ambrosio Urdaspal got control of the ball when Marcos Maore tried to sneak it across the goal line. 81 minutes into the match, Union de Sta Fe's goal looked a bit too open when Rigoberto Piorno came free, but Jacinto Berasko reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Rigoberto Piorno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jacinto Berasko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Baldomiro Burutzagi in the 93rd minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Ranelagh FC had played much better football throughout.
