Dionisio Calisto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Melquiades Dalmai made a huge save. Mariano Firme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zeledon Elequemedo in the 22nd minute of play. Zeledon Elequemedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mariano Firme having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ramon Abeita in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mariano Firme prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dionisio Calisto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mariano Firme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zeledon Elequemedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Mario Baumer's late challenge caught a Castelar FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Castelar FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dionisio Calisto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Melquiades Dalmai showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgardo Endura in the 47th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edgardo Endura to make the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Maquinchao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicolas Rocendo to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Castelar FC's Mariano Firme got control of the ball when Ramon Abeita tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 55 played minutes Castelar FC got a freekick which was hit by Bonifacio Primeiro. Zeledon Elequemedo struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Mariano Firme didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Maquinchao. 60 minutes into the game, Edgardo Endura was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Castelar FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Maquinchao the free kick. After 60 played minutes Castelar FC got a freekick which was hit by Edgardo Endura. Zeledon Elequemedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zeledon Elequemedo in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mariano Firme saved Castelar FC from getting behind. After 83 played minutes Castelar FC got a freekick which was hit by Bonifacio Primeiro. After 85 minutes, Enzo Casomiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Castelar FC and the Maquinchao players grew even worse after the yellow card. Mariano Firme was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Nereo Aritza. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dionisio Calisto in the 88th minute of play forced Maquinchao's goalkeeper Melquiades Dalmai to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 92nd minute of the game. One of Castelar FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Maquinchao:s goal. The referee gave Maquinchao a penalty, 94 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Nereo Aritza, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Castelar FC's Mariano Firme. 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Ramon Abeita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Maquinchao's supporters rose to their feet, but Ramon Abeita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mariano Firme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Maquinchao had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
