Seating: 1641, VIP seats: 141) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Moises Kusko took the kick off in the first half of the match. After a rather tough play, Club Atlético River Plate's Benjamin Jerrald got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Placido Vincent made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albino Llorenc in the 8th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Higinio Mino during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Club Atlético River Plate booed when Sarmiento was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Higinio Mino didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th minute, Atilano Matthew got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Club Atlético River Plate's Atilano Matthew got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Moises Kusko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Ilazki having to interfere. When Miguel Balesio fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Atlético River Plate's protests and gave Miguel Balesio a yellow card for diving instead. After 18 played minutes Club Atlético River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Balesio. Moises Kusko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leopoldo Ilazki made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Moises Kusko in the 28th minute of play. Atilano Matthew fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Ilazki having to interfere. Leopoldo Ilazki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moises Kusko, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. If Moises Kusko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Sarmiento's Higinio Mino got a free kick in the 45th minute.
Leopoldo Ilazki stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sixto Gartzea's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. Reynaldo Koldo kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Atilano Matthew struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Leopoldo Ilazki didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atlético River Plate. In the 58th minute, Higinio Mino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 59 minutes into the match, Club Atlético River Plate's Moises Kusko sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Leopoldo Ilazki narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Atilano Matthew had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Sarmiento defense, Miguel Balesio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leopoldo Ilazki. The Sarmiento fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leopoldo Ilazki should have stopped the shot. After 71 minutes of play, Club Atlético River Plate's Atilano Matthew made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Leopoldo Ilazki was left in no man's land by his defense there! Atilano Matthew sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 78th match minute, Sarmiento was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rene Iago to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Sarmiento's zone, Atilano Matthew stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leopoldo Ilazki came out of the goal and Atilano Matthew tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Atilano Matthew had several of the Sarmiento's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 82 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-3 score and a disappointed Leopoldo Ilazki as he didn't even see the shot coming. Atilano Matthew struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Leopoldo Ilazki didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atlético River Plate. Club Atlético River Plate played a much better game than Sarmiento and deserved their victory. The Sarmiento players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
