The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Remes booed when Potrero AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filomeno Lehior didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ismael Normando fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeronimo Abascal having to interfere. Jeronimo Abascal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eusebio Garikoitz, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Eusebio Garikoitz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Jeronimo Abascal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jacobo Romero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teodosio Sanduru having to interfere. Remes's Eusebio Garikoitz got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Adolfo Acuña charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adolfo Acuña the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 26th minute, Adolfo Acuña hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Teodosio Sanduru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacobo Romero in the 27th minute of play. Luis Salamon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Jacobo Romero's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Teodosio Sanduru was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. Luis Salamon struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Teodosio Sanduru didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Potrero AFC. After a defensive mix-up in Remes's zone, Jacobo Romero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Teodosio Sanduru came out of the goal and Jacobo Romero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Potrero AFC's goalkeeper Jeronimo Abascal, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Luis Salamon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teodosio Sanduru having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luis Salamon in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Teodosio Sanduru saved Remes from getting behind. Jeronimo Abascal came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by Remes's Ismael Normando. But to his dismay, Ismael Normando quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jacobo Romero got free with Teodosio Sanduru in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Alberto Rey fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Remes's protests and gave Alberto Rey a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 71st minute of the game. One of Remes:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Potrero AFC:s goal. The excitement rose when Potrero AFC's Santiago Gabino after 74 played minutes turned away three defenders near the goal, and after that shot a ball that was too difficult for Remes's goalkeeper to hold.
