The audience was convinced that Lorenzo Guillerme's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arnulfo Cristofor was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. Pascual Sugoi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Gualeguay fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when Gualeguay's Damian Banegas looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Pascual Sugoi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Serafin Bizi struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Arnulfo Cristofor didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gualeguay. After the first half Gualeguay were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 88th minute, Carlos Tello got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 89th minute, Horacio Obano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match was over Gualeguay could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Quilmes AFC throughout the match.
