In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chimborazo's goalkeeper Niceto Luke, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jeremias Tristan got free with Niceto Luke in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alfonso Ascencio didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Damaso Poz went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Jeremias Tristan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Niceto Luke read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Niceto Luke showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Blas Tono in the 40th minute of the match. Honorato Balendin kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Blas Tono in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Niceto Luke prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Niceto Luke was a little too slow when Blas Tono got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 46th minute. The score was now 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Damaso Poz was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Blas Tono in the 72nd minute of play forced Chimborazo's goalkeeper Niceto Luke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damaso Poz in the 79th minute of play forced los pumas's goalkeeper Alfonso Ascencio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 80 minutes into the game, los pumas's Blas Tono nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Niceto Luke made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Niceto Luke stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Blas Tono's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for los pumas.
